When you think about Stretch Marks, what do you think of first? Which aspects of Stretch Marks are important, which are essential, and which ones can you take or leave? You be the judge.

Some people think there’s nothing that can be done about stretch marks. Once you’ve got ‘em they’re here to stay. That turns out not to be true.

First off, many stretch marks just fade over time, making them much less noticeable, and some people can live with them this way. You can also cover them up with makeup made especially for that purpose. For those who want to do better than just covering them up, laser therapy is a promising option. The color of the stretch marks that need treatment will determine the type of laser a surgeon uses. One type stimulates production of cells that make pigment, another reduces the color of stretch marks.

Another type of laser treatment actually stimulates collagen production to restore elasticity in the stretch marks themselves. It is the skin’s being stretched past its limit that causes stretch marks in the first place. This can happen when a person grows rapidly such as during puberty. It can also happen when a person gains weight rapidly such as during a pregnancy. The damage is actually done in the skin’s middle layer, the dermis. (The skin has three layers: the other two are the outer layer, called the epidermis, and the innermost layer, called the subcutaneous layer.)

Another treatment for stretch marks is blue light therapy, something that can be helpful in treating acne too. It is a combination of gel and light, used to remove stretch marks.

See how much you can learn about Stretch Marks when you take a little time to read a well-researched article? Don’t miss out on the rest of this great information.

An older, low-tech treatment is to use creams to help moisturize skin, repair collagen and elastin growth. They commonly contain combinations of cocoa butter, wheat germ oil, lanolin and vitamin E. But actually, these creams are most effective if used while your skin is being stretched to help keep it soft, supple, smooth and elastic. So prevention is a good idea for those most susceptible to them. If you haven’t applied creams while the skin was being stretched, the sooner you begin afterwards, the better.

Who has to worry most about stretch marks? People who are genetically disposed to them, that’s who. And it turns out people with darker skin tend to be less susceptible than those with lighter skin.

There isn’t one fail-safe, 100 percent way to prevent or eradicate stretch marks, but a combination of some of these therapies will dramatically reduce their appearance or eliminate them. One thing to keep in mind about stretch marks is that they pose absolutely no health risk. They’re more of an imperfection than a threat.

Acne is a very common skin disorder that causes pimples. These pimples can occur on the upper part of the body and most teenagers seem to have acne on the face and neck as well as on the chest and shoulders. People of all ages an get acne but it is most common among teens and young adults. Although acne is not a serious threat to your health, it is unsightly and it can cause scarring.

If you suffer from acne then you should be made aware of the fact that there is acne medication on the market that will help to clear up and control the outbreak. You can find medicines and creams at your local drug store or you could visit your family physician to have strong medications prescribed to you.

Acne control comes in many forms. You should be sure to keep your face as clean as possible and to wash the affected areas at least twice daily using a medicated skin cleaner that is designed for acne. It is also very important not to touch the acne any more than necessary as you do not want to cause more of the pores on your skin to clog with oils and dirt which will only make the acne spread even further.

A great natural acne treatment consists of doing an exfoliating procedure that will remove dull and dead skin cells. You can purchase natural exfoliates at most drug stores. Be sure to choose one that is designed to be used on sensitive skin. If you exfoliate one time every week you should be able to keep the acne from worsening.

You can also apply benzoyl peroxide to the acne or use one of the over-the-counter acne medications such as Clearasil or Stri-Dex. If you find that you have deeper blemishes such as nodules and cysts, then you are in danger of scars developing so you should seek the help of a physician. Your doctor can prescribe oral antibiotics to kick start the healing process and he may even suggest that you allow hi to drain the larger pimples and cysts.

Keep in mind that most acne treatments take time. You can expect six to eight weeks to pass before you start to notice significant improvements. If you discover that your acne has not improved in this amount of time then perhaps your doctor will want you to take an oral retinoid. You should be sure to visit your doctor if your acne is embarrassing and if it is causing you to avoid social situations such as dates and parties.

How to keep your skin looking great!
Invest some time and care!
Everyone wants to have younger looking skin. Unfortunately, even the most expensive skin care products, with all their claims of reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, cant turn back the years. However, dont despair! There are steps that we can all take to make sure our skin looks healthy and vibrant and stays wrinkle-free for longer. All weve got to do is invest some time and care in looking after it.
It is important to understand the basic function of our skin in order to look after it properly. The skin is our bodys largest organ and comprises three major layers:
The Epidermis: This layer has five sub-layers; the outer layer consists of mainly dead cells which are continuously shed and replaced by cells beneath. The epidermis is also responsible for water proofing your skin, protecting your skin from potential invasion of microbes and generate new skin cells which move from the deep layer of the epidermis to the outer layer, where they are eventually shed.
The Dermis: Is the middle layer of the skin and is composed of connective tissue containing collagen and elastin. The dermis is thick in the palms and soles and very thin in the eyelids. It contains blood vessels, nerves, glands, and hair follicles.
The Subcutaneous layer: This layer consists of areolar and adipose tissue. Fibres from the dermis extend down into the subcutaneous layer and anchor the skin to it. The subcutaneous layer, in turn, attaches to underlying tissues and organs.
Aging of the skin
There are several factors influencing how quickly our skin ages, ranging from genetic factors, your natural skin type, as well as external factors such as exposure to sunlight, environmental factors and whether you smoke or not. In general, pale skins wrinkle faster than darker skins, which are protected by increased amounts of pigment and lipids.
Another vital factor is, of course, our age. Our skin looks and functions very differently at 20 as opposed to when we are 60.
Below is a skin care plan of how to look after your skin as the decades go by and how to adapt your skin care regime accordingly.
Looking after your skin in your 20s
Your 20s is a great time for your skin. Youve left behind the adolescence acne and your skin has a radiant, youthful glow and the epidermis is well toned.
However, this is not the time to be complacent. In your 20s skin cell renewal drops by up to 28 per cent, dead skin cells are not as easily shed and external factors are starting to have a greater impact, leaving your skin slightly duller.
According to dermatologists, 80 per cent of all aging can be directly related to exposure to sunlight. Therefore, it is a good idea to avoid the mid-day sun, or if you have to be out in the heat of the day (especially in countries like Australia), than cover up. Penetrating UVA rays will start to damage collagen fibres and elastin coils in your skin.
Smoking one factor you can control and now would be a good time to quite. Smoking inhibits oxygen getting to the outer layer of your skin and has a premature aging effect. In addition, smoking can cause fine lines around the mouth over the years and this is to be avoided – if you want to keep your good looks.
Looking after your skin in your 30s
By the time you get to your 30s skin cell turnover has slowed. Environmental damage from pollution, smoke and sunlight are starting to take their toll on the dermis, causing collagen fibres to loosen so that skin starts to loose its tone and develop fine lines and wrinkles. When you smile, subcutaneous fat forms ridges and refuse to bounce back as readily as it once did. Your first wrinkles may start to appear.
By now you should have established a daily skincare regime that involves exfoliating (two or three times a week), cleansing, moisturising and sun protection for your skin. In your 30s, its important to maintain a balanced diet consisting of fresh fruits, vegetables, grains and fish, which are high in antioxidants such as Vitamins A, B, C and E. These Vitamins counteract free radicals in your body that help the skin to repair itself, produce the enzymes that stabilise collagen production, and stay moist and healthy. For further protection, try using a day cr?me, such as one that contains vitamin E, for example: Wildcrafteds Age Defying Essence.
Alcohol should only be consumed in moderation as it deprives your skin of vital nutrients and may cause your facial blood vessels to become dilated leading to permanent, red spider veins on your cheeks and in men often across the nose.
Maintaining well hydrated tissues by drinking plenty of water each and every day (3 litres a day is not at all excessive) is vital to retain moisture in your skin. In addition, you should ensure that you get enough quality sleep.
Looking after your skin in your 40s
In your 40s, collagen fibres decrease in number, stiffen, break apart, and form into a shapeless, matted tangle. Elastic fibres lose some of their elasticity, thicken into clumps, and fray. The result is the skin forms crevices and furrows known as lines and wrinkles. In addition, loss of fat in the subcutaneous layer leaves your skin more fragile, whereas the dermis will continue to lose its elasticity. A rich nourishing night cr?me, such as Wildcrafteds rejuvenating night cr?me, becomes a vital part of your skin care regime.
During this time the stratum corneum (the outer layer of the epidermis) starts to grow even thicker, as dead skin cells hang around for longer. If you are not already using an exfoliant regularly, now is a good time to get into the habit of exfoliating your skin regularly using a facial scrub – 2-3 times a week is all thats necessary. You could also use a cream containing Rose oil, Jojoba oil or similar, as these contain natural AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) and to help remove dead skin cells.
As deeper wrinkles start to form, you may wish to use a complete skin care system, which systematically helps you to nourish and moisturise your skin on all levels. Choose natural skin care products for your daily skin care regime, as you do not want to introduce unnecessary toxins into your system by using products full of unpronounceable chemicals. Quality natural skin care systems, such as Wildcrafteds range of natural skin care systems should be matched to your specific skin type.
Looking after your skin in your 50s and above
As we reach our 50s and beyond, the hair and nails grow more slowly. Langerhans cells (involved in the immune response, dwindle in number, thus decreasing the immune responsiveness of older skin. Decreased size of sebaceous (oil) glands leads to dry and broken skin that is more susceptible to infection.
In women, after the menopause, decreased oestrogen levels mean that skin lose its plumpness and tone, and it may be left dry, itchy and more sensitive to allergens.
At this stage in your life it is important to take that extra care of your skins health. Mature skin is more fragile, prone to injury and infection and bruises easily. As if this was not bad enough, it also takes longer to heal. Taking care of your skin will reduce the aging effect; keep it healthier as well as more resistant to injury and infections. Remember, a face that has a lived in look is much more attractive than a Botox face and character is much more beauty.br
Wrinkles- How do they form?

Wrinkles form as we age. Our face begins aging soon after we cross our twenties. It begins with fine lines on the face. As we age, the fine lines become deeper. At the same time our facial expression makes permanent changes in the skin. We develop laugh lines, lines on the forehead, etc. As we age the collagen that is the main constituent of our dermis begins breaking down. Let us see what happens s than and how a collagen injection, which takes minutes, can bring back the youth back.

Collagen- the wonder material

Collagen is a protein. It is mainly found in the dermis, the layer below epidermis (top layer) of the skin. this collagen in the dermis supports the epidermis. without the support of collagen the epidermis would collapse on the muscles and bones. The collagen gives us the plump and young look. Collagen forms the structure on which the epidermis rests. You can think of pillars in a building that support the roof. Collagen does similarly to support the epidermis.

Collagen- why it breaks down?

As we age, the collagen begins breaking don. Sun is the main culprit. As the collagen breaks, the skin develops wrinkles. The skin sags. In the youth collagen is replaced fast. But as we age, this replacement becomes slow. So there is insufficient collagen in the dermis and we begin looking old. What can be done about replacing this collagen? Let us find out.

Collagen Injections- it takes minutes

Doctors inject collagen below the wrinkled skin. The source of collagen is commonly bovine. If your doctor suspects that you may develop allergy to bovine collagen, he/she may use human collagen. As the collagen is injected, it removes the wrinkle in minutes and makes the face as young as it was earlier.

br
Blackheads are one of the most common skin complaints in the world. Every day millions of people suffer the irritation of yet another crop of blackheads appearing on the surface of their skin. In fact theres probably not a person in the world who hasnt had at least one blackhead during their life.

So with that in mind, were going to look at two of the most important issues. How to avoid blackheads, and if the worst happens, how to deal with them.

The first step towards preventing blackheads is to be aware of what causes them so that you know what to guard against. Blackheads are caused by blocked pores in your skin. They can appear anywhere on your body, but they most commonly appear on the face. Once a pore becomes blocked it loses the ability to clean itself using the oil in your skin. Over time tiny particles of dirt build up at the head of the pore causing it to become discolored, hence the name blackheads.

Unlike whiteheads, which cause tiny pustules on the surface of your skin, blackheads lie level with the surface of the skin, making them slightly harder to deal with.

How To Prevent Blackheads Appearing

The best way to avoid blackheads appearing in your skin is to lead as healthy a lifestyle as possible and maintain good hygiene to keep your skin clean. Use a mild soap or water soluble cleaner to wash your skin. Its also a good idea to use a gentle exfoliant every day to remove dead skin cells and clense your skin. This will help to keep your skin health and prevent the pores from becoming blocked. However, in practice its almost impossible to avoid blackheads completely.

How To Deal With Blackheads

But if despite your best efforts blackheads still appear in your skin, all is not lost. There are a number of ways to deal with blackheads, however not everyone agrees on the best method. You could ask a number of different people and they would each give you a different answer. So heres a selection of the most common methods to get rid of blackheads.

1) Squeeze Them Out

This is one of the most contraversial methods of dealing with blackheads, due to the risk of damaging your skin. Some people swear by it, whereas others recommend that you avoid this option at all costs.

If you decide to remove your blackheads by applying gentle pressure to the affected areas, there are certain things that you can do to avoid damaging your skin.

First, wash your face using a mild soap or a water soluble cleaner. Pat your skin dry using a soft, clean towel. A clean towel will prevent transferring any bacteria to your skin. Its also best to pat your skin dry as rubbing it will remove dead skin cells making your pores more likely to become blocked. If you want to remove dead skin cells from your face its best to use one of the many products available on the market to exfoliate your skin.

Next, place a warm cloth over the effected area for 15 minutes. This will help to moisten and soften your blackheads making them easier to remove. However, make sure that you dont make the cloth too hot or it could irritate your skin. Once you remove the cloth, pat your skin dry again, and then placing a piece of tissue over the end of each forefinger, apply gentle pressure using the pads of your fingers to each side of the blackhead. Dont press too hard or you could damage your skin, avoid scraping or piching your skin and whatever happens dont use tweezers or any other metal instrument.

Try this two or three times, pressing the blackhead from different sides. If it hasnt come out by this stage, it isnt ready to come out. If you continue to press the area youre more likely to damage the skin causing bruising or scarring.

2) Pore Strips

These are small adhesive strips that are applied to the area of skin containing the blackhead(s). Chemicals in the strip help to dry up the blackhead and loosen it from the skin. So when the strips are pealed off the skin after a few minutes the blackheads should be pulled out. The success of these products can vary depending upon your type of skin and the severity of your blackheads. You should also bear in mind that the chemicals in the strips may cause your skin to become irritated.

3) Medicine

There are many over the counter drugs and creams that you can obtain to treat blackheads. These work to varying degrees depending upon your skin type and the severity of the problem, so it can take some time to find the right medication for your situation.

4) Medical Help

Finally, if you have a severe case of blackheads and nothing seems to help them, you should consider visiting your doctor or a dermatologist for further advice.br
AHAs- what are they?

AHAs or Alpha Hydroxy Acids are available in many formulations. You get them both as OTC products and as prescription strength formulations. If you are prone to regular outbreak of acne, it is time for you to think using AHAs regularly to prevent them. Let us discuss why I think AHAs may work as preventives.

Acne and pore block-

One of the main reasons of acne formation is blockage of the pore. If the pore remains open, acne would not form because excess sebum will go out on the skin and get washed away. The blocked pore allows sebum accumulation and inflammation.

AHAs and pores-

AHAs are acidic molecules commonly found in milk, sugarcane juice and many other natural products. These acids perform a very important function on the skin. They dissolve the cement that holds the dead skin cells together and remove the dead cells from the skin surface. While doing this, they open the pores. If you use AHAs everyday, your skin gets very little opportunity to get blocked. Please talk to your doctor and find out if you should use them and if yes, what strength. Your skin type will be important to consider. Please consult your doctor about AHAs.

Scars are a problem for all of us. Any injury, inflammation or wound causes scar. The scars are for lifetime, except few that fade away over years. The major problems are Keloids that are raised scars. Not all of us develop keloids. But some of us those develop feel very embarrassing about keloids.

Keloids are raised scars. They form in response to an injury. When body suffers an injury, it rushes its defense molecules including white cells to save itself. The scars form as the skin heals. In most of the people the skin heals withan indent. In some people body pushes more of collagen at the site of injury and a hard mass forms that is called keloid.

It is difficult to treat keloids. If new surgery is performed to remove keloids, it will produce more of them. That is the challenge. Some doctors treat keloids by injecting them with steroid injections. Slowly the keloid dries out. Some doctors cut the keloid with laser and inject the site with steroid injection to stop new keloid forming. Silicone gels and sheetings are also used to treat keloids. Keloids are a problem and those of you who suffer from them must avoid all possible injury to body and consult your doctor when you form keloids.

Acne is a disorder of the pilosebaceous unit, which consists of a hair, a hair follicle and sebaceous gland. Pilosebaceous units are located all over your body, except for your lower lip, palms, soles and tops of feet. Most of these units can be found on the face, neck and chest. The sebaceous gland produces sebum, an oily substance that keeps your skin moisturized. At adolescence, sebaceous glands enlarge and make more sebum due to an increase of hormones called androgens and bacteria on your skin increases overall.

Types of bacteria that begin to appear on your skin during the teen years include proprionibacterium acnes (P. acnes), staphylococcus epidermis and proprionibacterium granulosum. There is also a substantial increase of Melassezia yeasts. Although the severity of acne is not contingent on the number of bacteria on the skin, the P. acnes bacteria specifically can produce inflammatory agents and active enzymes that could contribute to the activity of acne. These agents and enzymes include proteases, hyaluronate lyase, lipases, phosphatase and smooth-muscle contracting substances. Such bacteria can penetrate the skin, causing inflammation resulting in external eruptions and pimples that appear on the skin.

The formation of free fatty acids is also caused by bacteria. These free fatty acids are irritants that increase inflammation in the follicle. When follicles become obstructed by excess sebum, the process is referred to comedogenesis. This process results in a type of acne called comedones, commonly known as blackheads and whiteheads.

To minimize bacteria on your skin, make sure to wash your face twice a day with a suitable cleanser. Using an astringent, clay facial mask and exfoliator can also remove surface sebum from your skin and prevent potential blemishes. Natural antimicrobial ingredients to look for in the products you choose include tea tree oil, sage oil, thyme oil, eucalyptus oil and witch hazel extract. These natural elements gently remove oil and bacteria from the surface of your skin. Consuming greasy foods can also increase the amount of sebum produced within your body, ultimately causing an oilier complexion externally, and should be avoided.

With a little extra attention, you can keep your skin free of bacteria and blemishes for a porcelain perfect complexion everyday!

What is acne? While acne is generally considered to be a problem suffered by teenagers, it can occur and affect people of any age. Acne does however begin at puberty in most cases. Approximately 75% of teenagers will have acne to some degree.
Hormonal changes stimulate the oil producing skin glands causing them to become plugged by excessive skin and oil cells trying to exit. These glands are situated within the pores of the skin around hair follicles. Once these glands become plugged, the hair follicle will bulge and form whiteheads. The top of this plug may darken and form a blackhead.
Pimples are the next step. These are formed when the follicle wall ruptures and allows bacteria on the skin’s surface to enter into the skin causing the area to become infected. Sometimes a more painful cyst will form but only if the infection is deep within the skin. This condition is the most painful of the types mentioned in this article.
While acne is normally found on the face, it can also appear on the neck, shoulders, chest and back and less commonly on the arms and legs.
Acne can be aggravated by – excessive dirt and oil on the surface of the skin – hormonal changes caused by menstruation or pregnancy – stress – certain drugs such as testosterone or cortisone
Acne tends to be more prominent in some families than others, it is hereditary. It is not a contagious condition and can be treated.
How can acne be treated? A variety of treatments are available but the most common are the following. They are designed to cure existing acne and to prevent further acne from appearing.
Most medications applied to the infected area are designed to dry it out and will cause some peeling of the skin. Some of the most commonly used chemicals in these medications are sulfur, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, retinoids or resorcinol.
Antibiotics taken orally, such as tetracycline, are often prescribed. While effective they can discolor teeth permanently. For this reason they are not normally prescribed for children. Some antibiotic medications are topical, meaning that they can be applied directly to the skin.
What other methods are there to reduce acne? Exposing the skin to the sun can improve the condition, keeping in mind of course that too much exposure to the sun can cause sunburn and increases the risk of skin cancer.
Washing the skin regularly with warm water to reduce dirt, oil and to remove make-up will help. Taking a shower immediately after exercising is recommended. Shampoo hair regularly, preferably with an anti dandruff shampoo.
For those with long hair it pays to keep it away from the face, so comb or tie it back.
Often the most difficult thing to do is not to touch the infected areas but this is most important. Touching, rubbing or picking at the pimples will only worsen the situation as you are only exposing the area to more skin damage. A common mistake is to rest your head on your hands, causing more aggravation of the skin.
Lastly, everyone is different and each person may have their own foods or creams that may result in acne. Look out for things that trigger the worsening of your acne and then avoid them.
You can’t prevent acne but you can manage and improve the condition with medication and gentle care and regular cleansing of the skin.

Acne can be a big problem for most teenagers, making them very aware of their appearance and affecting their self-esteem. Not only teenagers are susceptible to acne, however, as grown-ups also have to cope with it from time to time. So, what to do to get rid of acne forever – if that is possible?

Acne is caused by imbalances within the delicate framework of the body. So, any plan to eradicate it or to stem body impurities must include looking at diet and the kind of skin care products being applied to the skin.

A clear skin relies on a combination of good things going into our body as well as being affected by what we apply to our skin. If we suddenly experience a breakout of acne, then, we should try to recall if we have changed our eating habits recently. Tiredness could be added to this as insufficient rest or stress can affect the situation.

The ideal treatment to get rid of acne forever involves a diet that will assist in removing body wastes efficiently. We rely on our liver to remove hormones and toxins from our body, but if these are removed too slowly there can be a build-up of toxins. The liver, then, must be in good condition to work properly.

There are foods available that can assist the liver. Beetroot, for example, is well-known for its liver cleansing properties. Also, foods for general body cleansing are apples and psyllium husks. They both contain fibers that absorb intestinal junk and can assist in sweeping clean the inside of the body.

Skin care products are available for treating acne. Unfortunately, many over-the-counter products contain chemicals that are harmful to our skin, cause irritation and actually slow down the healing process. A better approach would be to use some of the readily available basic household items that are known to give effective results.

Baking soda, for example, can be used as a scrub. By scrubbing, the skin is exfoliated by the removal of dead skin that tends to clog pores and create acne spots. The baking soda is mixed with water to make a paste, which is then applied to the face for less than a minute. The face is then rinsed and patted dry.

Apple cider vinegar is effective in killing bacteria that causes acne. It helps stabilize the skin’s PH level and absorbs extra oil on the skin.

As well as being used for burns and cuts, Aloe Vera can prevent scarring and heals acne spots.

These items are just a few of the alternatives to chemical based acne products.

Regular exercise not only assists our general well-being, but can also assist our skin appearance. Exercising increases blood flow to the skin and promotes sweating, which cleanses clogged up pores.

In our battle against acne, then, we need to consider the benefits of good hygiene, healthy eating habits, natural skin care and regular exercise before resorting to over-the-counter skin care products.

To get rid of acne forever, there is a product that uses a natural approach and offers a 100% success rate guarantee. No product can guarantee a 100% success rate for everyone, but this program has a 98% success rate with nearly 500,000 customers, so is worth checking out.
