Throughout earth’s history, it has always been a given that people always want to look better. Even the early humans looked for ways to improve their appearances. It is but practical to say that we all would want to look younger, more vibrant, and wrinkle-free. A lot of creams, cosmetic products, and surgeries are out in the market to help us with that. One of the most popular medical advances that will more conveniently help us attain out younger-looking, feeling more confident goal is the Botulinum Toxin or what is commonly known as Botox.

This innovation technically softens wrinkle lines caused by muscular actions usually found between the eyebrows, in the forehead, and the laugh lines. Many people worry about these facial creases because over the counter creams don’t seem to yield the result they are actually looking for in the span of time they want it. But now that Botox is here, we can all say goodbye to what used to be the only solution to this common dilemma — extensive surgery.

Botox is derived from Clostridium Botulinum, a bacterium that can cause health hazards when eaten. But since it is used as an injection created in a laboratory and not ingested, it is very safe. Botox tends to “freeze” muscles or relax tight muscles that cause the wrinkles. This leads to minimization, if not total removal, of superficial wrinkles when injected in the affected area. Because the muscles seem to have frozen, the movement is minimal, thus, eliminating the existence of creases.

This procedure only takes 10-15 minutes, which is very convenient even for the busiest people. All the patient has to do is sit down comfortably and force a smile so as to help the doctor identify which area to inject the Botox in. As simple as that, the unwanted creases in your face are practically removed. This non-surgical treatment has proven to be effective and because of this, it rapidly became widely accepted worldwide. The effect of Botox has convinced a lot of people to try it out.

br
Despite tracing its origins back to Neolithic times, tattooing has gone through periods of popularity and unpopularity, just like any other social trend, particularly in western cultures. Currently, the art is going through a revival and tattoos are more popular than ever. This has also been as a direct result of new technology in machine design and inks enabling artists to produce work that wouldnt be out of place in some art galleries. Body adornment has also received a boost from the number of celebrities openly sporting ink – both men and women.

It would be fair to assume that an economic downturn would actually result in the industry suffering in the same way as many other consumer markets, but the opposite appears to be true. Recent research carried out in the United States has concluded that in times of recession people are actually more likely to spend money on tattoos as a personal statement against what they see as a consumerist society and an economic system that has betrayed them in so many other ways. Tattoos represent a need to make an individual statement that can be completely controlled by the wearer and a permanent representation of their personality or a desire to rebel against the status quo. It can also be a statement of commitment to a loved one, a permanent dedication to a cause or ideal or just, simply, an adornment. The psychology of why people get tattooed is a complex field of study that is seemingly influenced just as much by environmental factors as well as personal preferences.

However, a stunning tattoo of a leaping tiger may look great now and may empower the wearer, but what about tattoos that you regret? According to a study carried out in 2003 by the British Journal of Dermatology, three-quarters of people in the UK who have tattoos regret having them done. This could be for a variety of reasons – perhaps the tattoo is the name of an ex-partner, no longer has any significance or its context has become dated. It could simply be that its just a bad tattoo, which can be as unsightly as any scar. In this case, tattoo removal becomes a consideration and the most common method of removing unwanted tattoos is through laser tattoo removal.

The process involves using laser technology to aim a beam of intense light through the upper layers of skin into the tattoo to break up the pigmentation. Once the ink has been broken up into tiny particles by laser tattoo removal, the bodys natural immune system can remove the pigment, causing the tattoo to fade and eventually disappear. Laser treatment is not a cheap option and several sessions will be required to remove a tattoo, particularly if the tattoo has several different coloured inks or covers a large area of skin. It is painful, but the pain levels are about comparable to the actual process of tattooing itself (the sensation has been likened to being repeatedly snapped with a rubber band).

The easiest way to avoid ending up with a tattoo youll regret is to ask yourself some serious questions before you go to the tattoo studio. How will I feel about the tattoo in 20 years time? Could it affect my chances of career development? Am I sober? (A serious question – many people make impulsive and badly thought-out decisions after drinking, although a good tattoo artist will refuse to tattoo anyone who is obviously intoxicated and unable to make a rational decision about such a permanent alteration to their body). If the tattoo has a deep significance to you, then the chances are you wont regret it. But if you do wish you had never got inked, laser tattoo removal is probably the best alternative and will eradicate that mistake relatively easily.

As a dedicated health care professional you work hard and meet the needs of your patients every day. But how are you rewarded? Often it is by lower reimbursements for what you do. Dont get me wrong, being a doctor is a wonderful profession. Treating patients with diabetes, HTN, and the like, is very rewarding, just not necessarily lucrative. With two people to process paper work, fight with insurance companies and resubmit claims for every one person that is in direct patient care, it gets harder and harder to make ends meet.

A Medi-Spa (or you may call it a Medical Laser Center) is a cash practice providing what people really want. You can do everything that people are seeing on Oprah and other TV shows. Laser hair removal, spider vein treatments, skin tightening, acne, warts and skin resurfacing. Look, if you can do a biopsy, you can do this stuff. Right now your patients are getting this stuff done… just not by you. While they are complaining to your front desk about the co-pay, they going elsewhere and laying down $100 dollar bills to get these services. Yes they are.

The trick is picking the right technology. There is a lot of smoke and mirrors out there. I am amazed at what some companies are willing to put up as before and after pictures. They are often terrible. One needs to squint and turn your head sideways to determine which is before and which is after. With the right technology, outcomes are tremendous, treatments are fast and comfortable and the patient is happy.

So, how will this help put your kids through college or improve your retirement? Simple… parallel income streams. You will only make the money you can make until you start to delegate. Right now you delegate your patients care to the nurse in the ICU, you delegate giving shots, but that makes you little money. Delegating hair removal or spider vein treatments can make you a lot of money. Having your staff mining your spa patients for the bigger procedures like skin resurfacing can make a lot of money. Its all about parallel income streams.

So you have decided to immerse yourself in the fantasy of luxurious beauty that is going to define you as you go through the laser hair removal treatment. But the journey of the experience starts much before the actual permanent hair removal solution starts. There are several steps that you need to take before and after the laser hair treatment which will ensure that you have a quick, permanent and safe hair removal solution. Whether you are looking for laser hair, nyc or you are seeking laser hair removal, Houston the following discussion points are vital for the success of the treatment.

If you have just spent some time in a tanning bed or basking in the sun at your favorite beach, then do not opt for laser hair removal. The skin reaction of a tanned skin is not favorable when its under the laser treatment and might have some undesirable side effects. Of all laser hair removal tips, this is the most vital one. For people with a darker pigmentation i.e. darker skin color, a skin-lightening procedure such as bleaching should be undergone as a prerequisite to the laser hair removal treatment. However, this bleaching should not be done within the last 10 days to two weeks before the laser treatment. The other thing to keep in mind is the shorter the visible hair that needs to be removed, the better the effect of the lasers. So shaving of the unwanted hair a couple of days before the laser treatment will accelerate the effect of the lasers. Of course, its a must that you consult your physician before you undertake this permanent hair removal solution for if you are suffering from an ailment like genital herpes or cold sores or skin acne, you might require to take some medication before going under the lasers.

Keeping these key laser hair removal tips in mind will guarantee you not just a great hair removal experience, but a personal after-glow of confidence and happiness that will stand you in good stead for a long time to come. Like we mentioned before, whether you are looking for laser hair, nyc or you are seeking laser hair removal Houston, no matter where you are, remember to act on these gems of wisdom!br

Getting rid of unwanted hair from your body can sometimes be a very painful process. But knowing the right procedure can help you to avoid unwanted rashes and acne. Everybody has a different skin type, so knowing which hair removal method suits your skin is important.

The different methods of hair removal are:

Shaving: With the help of a razor, you can cut off the tip of the hair shaft which has grown out through the skin. You can get disposable razors, razors with disposable blades, and also electric razors. Men use these razors to shave their faces, and women use them to shave their underarms, legs, and bikini areas. Always use blades with safety guard wires to minimize nicks and cuts on your skin.

Shaving is an inexpensive method. You can do it yourself; all you need is a razor and a shaving gel. But this method can cause burns, cuts, and bumps on your skin, and can be rather uncomfortable. Even ingrown hairs occur, as while shaving the hairs are cut below the level of the skin, so when the hair grows back, it grows within the surrounding tissue and not out of the follicle. The hair curls around and starts growing into the skin, and irritation, redness, and swelling can occur at the hair follicle.

Plucking: With the help of tweezers, you can pull the hair out from its root. You have to stretch the skin tightly, grip the hair close to the base, and then pull it out. Plucking will last for about 3 to 5 weeks. Though this is time consuming, it is inexpensive, as you do not have to go anywhere to get it done. It can be painful, and you may notice temporary red bumps, as the hair follicle gets swollen and irritated.

Depilatories: Depilatories are hair removal creams or liquids. This is an easy method, as depilatories can remove hair from the skin’s surface. They work by reacting with the protein structure of the hair, so the hair dissolves and can be washed or wiped away. It can last up to 2 weeks. They are easily available and are inexpensive. You can use it on your legs, underarms, and bikini areas. It has a bad odor though, and some people can even have an allergic reaction to it, which may cause rashes or inflammation. People with sensitive skin should be careful.

Waxing: In this method, a sticky wax is spread on your skin, and then a cloth strip is applied over the wax and quickly pulled off, taking the hair root and dead skin cells with it. Normally the wax should be warmed, but some can be applied cold. It can be done at a salon or at home. Waxing makes the area smooth and is long lasting. It lasts for about 3 to 5 weeks. The hair regrowth also looks lighter than it does after other methods of hair removal such as shaving. This can be a painful procedure and you may even get bumps and inflammation after waxing, but the result you get is worth the pain. Professional waxing is also expensive compared to other hair removal methods. Diabetic patients and those under acne treatment should avoid this method.

Electrolysis: In this method a professional electrologist would insert a needle into the hair follicle and send an electric current through the hair root to kill it. This gets done over a series of several appointments. It is a long procedure, and even a small area like the upper lip may take a total of 4 to 10 hours, and a larger area such as the bikini line may take 8 to 16 hours. This is a permanent method, but it is expensive and time consuming. The process can be painful, and dry skin, scabs, scarring, and inflammation may result after treatment.

Laser: Here a laser would be directed through your skin to the hair follicle and stop growth. Large areas of skin can be treated at the same time. It can last up to 6 months. This method is best suited for light-skinned people having dark hair, as the melanin in the hair absorbs more of the light; thus making treatment more effective. The treatment can be expensive and may cost up to $500 or more.

Prescription Treatments: Medicinal creams are available by prescription, such as eflornithine for treating facial hair growth. The cream is to be applied twice a day until the hair becomes softer and lighter. Side effects may include skin irritation and acne.

Another method that doctors prescribe is antiandrogen medications to reduce the appearance of unwanted hair. Androgen hormone can be responsible for hair growth in unwanted areas, and antiandrogens can block the androgen production.

It’s your personal choice whether or not you want to remove your body hair. Hair removal would not affect your health in any way, so you shouldn’t feel pressured to remove it if you don’t want to. But if you do wish to get rid of unwanted hair, choose a method that would suit you best. Remember that each person is beautiful in his/her own way, so always respect your body.
